GIS Atmospheric Chemical Fate Model Simulation of Iron Released from High Intensity Bombing in Northwestern Laos

The atmospheric dispersal of iron fragments ejected from detonated ordnance released within the Nam Souy sub-basin during secret bombing campaign Laos 1965 ~ 1973 was simulated through python integration with ArcGIS. data for study obtained US National Archives and shows that a total 7,667,619 weapons delivered in (4.5 million tons), 19,005 (5,900 tons) were dropped site. simulation adapted Gaussian isotropic puff modeling dust/grain-sized explosive force radial release larger into script to produce temporal raster output images patterns analyte. use code language libraries ArcPy, NumPy, numba logic their application is discussed reported along developed. produced 9 m2 resolution displaying material loading at ground level. Loading density range between 0 7.5 g/m2 washable load, 0.65 kg/m2 suspended 3.5 bedded load. results are intended subsequent studies surface removal over time potential exposure risk analysis assessment impact on natural environments.
